A prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from.
It is an important part of R&D and helps designers to realize a their IDEA into a SOLID MODEL in a very short time.

To test the appearance or function of a newly designed product or just a part of a product so as to avoid risks before put a new product in the market.

1. Materials—A prototype uses materials with properties that simulate the intended final material.
